Returning for a third year, a special live tribute show honouring Dave Bookman. This year called, ‘I’m In Love With That Song’ will be featuring various artists, remembering the beloved, respected and long-time music broadcaster, Dave Bookman (known as Bookie). Always a difficult time of the year, Dave fell ill suddenly on April 12, 2019, and passed away in the early morning on May 21, 2019, a devastating loss to his family and friends. Bookie provided foundational support to Indie music in the city, not only on the radio but as host and co-curator of Nu Music Nite at The Horseshoe Tavern for 24 years. He was a long time DJ at both CFNY-102.1 (THE EDGE) and 88.1 (INDIE88). Bookie interviewed and befriended some of the biggest names in music.
The show takes place Saturday, May 9 at The Garrison, with free admission in support of The Daily Bread Food Bank. A heartfelt night of music and community, celebrating Bookie’s lasting impact on the indie scene.
